Guest Speaker: Atta’ya Reed-Brown
Pronounced A-TIA
Atta’ya Reed-Brown is a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend, entrepreneur, and woman of faith with a deep commitment to empowering and uplifting others. She is a lifelong learner and leader with a passion for service, people, and community development. As the great niece of Rev., Dr. James M Lawson Jr. and a lineage of pastors and community activist, Atta’ya finds herself right at home in her calling to the word and to the betterment and fair treatment of all people. Enduring traumatic losses early in life, Atta’ya credits her faith and her family for the woman you see today.
Atta’ya graduated from UC Davis with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, along with minors in Psychology and Dance, laying the foundation for her multidisciplinary approach to life and work. She later earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix and began her Doctoral journey in Non-Profit Management and Human Services. This September she will embark upon a new journey starting a second master’s in engineering leadership and management before returning to complete her doctorate doctorate refocused on organizational development and social responsibility. Atta’ya maintains a multitude of certifications ranging from project management, Communication, Agile, Lean Six Sigma, Safety and change management to name a few.
Her career in human services has spanned mental health, youth services, homeless services and education in multiple leadership roles, beginning with her tenure as Executive Director at Gramercy Housing Group, a nonprofit organization supporting homeless and emancipated youth and families in Los Angeles County. She then went on to serve as Executive Director at A-MAN Inc., before transitioning to the corporate sector in 2014. At Northrop Grumman, Atta’ya repurposed her skillset within project management, infrastructure modernization, Global Supply Chain Program Management and currently serves as an Engineer and Integration Lead within the Space Systems Sector.
Despite her success in the corporate world, Atta’ya has always maintained a keen sense of purpose: to help people. This passion led her to co-found Legacy Builders Enterprises, a holistic organization dedicated to the mental, physical, spiritual, and financial well-being of the community. Under the Legacy Builders umbrella, she runs multiple initiatives, including Legacy Builders Real Estate and Property Management, Hiz & Herz Perspective (a platform and podcast with her husband focused on motivation and empowerment), FloUrish, Legacy Health and Wellness, and recently, she became the CEO of her family’s nonprofit. Atta’ya also helps by feeding into the next generation through teaching which has extended into formal classrooms at the University level, for private corporations, within the church, workplace and various nonprofits on a volunteer basis. Atta’ya is also a certified Life, Spiritual, Relationship, and Executive Coach, helping others to thrive personally and professionally.
Outside of her entrepreneurial ventures, Atta’ya is an active mother of two, Madysen (16) and Quincy II (14), and has been married for nearly 21 years to her husband Quincy Sr. She serves on several boards, including NSBE Pro LA, Treasurer for A-MAN Inc. STEM Centers, Chair for the African-American Task Group and serves as a Business Conduct/Ethics Advisor at Northrop Grumman. Atta’ya and her husband have also served many years as Youth Directors, and she continues to work closely with her faith community, actively supporting youth, women, and music ministries.
Atta’ya Reed-Brown exemplifies dedication, leadership, and service in everything she does, constantly striving to create lasting change in her community and inspire others to live with purpose.
