Farewell from Pastor Hicks

Farewell from Pastor Hicks

Dear members and friends of Inglewood First,

The writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us that time inevitably moves us from one season of life to another.  Each season of life has it’s own time which must be respected.  “A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.  My wife Arthur and I are entering a new season of life known as ‘retirement.”  We haven’t been here before and honestly, we’re not all that sure how to behave.

Our feelings are definitely mixed as we leave First Church.  It is of course exciting to contemplate new adventures that await us.  But at the same time we leave people that we love and love serving Christ with.  We will miss First Church and the many wonderful opportunities and experiences afforded us here.  Every member of this community of faith is precious and special to us.

And that is the good news – that by the grace of God you will have many more dreams and days and joys to come as a church family.  And by his grace you are blessed to be receiving a wonderful new pastoral family that I am sure will help make those dreams and visions come true.  We look forward with you, to the leadership that Rev. Victor Cyrus-Franklin will now bring to First Church.  This brand new website is one exciting example of his creative vision already at work for us!

In closing, Arthur and I love you and will miss you, but we will carry with us many wonderful memories And joys from our time with you.

Go forth into the future with God’s love and blessings!
